Saturday Fun on the Farm

Before my Saturday fun on the farm, we took the day off on Friday and visited Greenfield Village. It was a lot of fun, and nice to take the day off.  :)

It's rhubarb season!  I am delighted that the rhubarb survived the winter and that we are able to harvest some this spring.  I tried a new recipe and made some Rhubarb crisp.

On Saturday I decided to do a little landscaping, or, rather... de-landscaping. You see, I love rocks. Big rocks, little rocks, different colored rocks... but especially big rocks. Kevin has some lovely big rocks waiting for a new home, and I decided that rather than trimming bushes all summer, I would rather have big beautiful rocks in front of the house. So, I deicded to pull out some bushes with the truck.

Feeling strong and ready to go!

Time to unload. I took all the pulled bushes to the treeline to unload. Well... the field was a bit greasy. Needless to say, I got the truck stuck.

Kevin came and pulled me out.  Thanks honey!  :)

I don't have the rocks in place yet, but I'm envisioning a nicely landscaped area with rocks and myrtle.  :)

Speaking of projects, here is an update on the projects I wrote about previously. The raspberry plants are all in, and my strawberry and herb area is ready for plants (but I forgot to take a picture of that).

The berry project also turned into a reinforce the hillside part 1 project... we were able to get large cement blocks to help reinforce the hillside to make it safer. This project turned out to be a bigger project than I first anticipated, but I am really happy with how it turned out.

We are now gearing up for spring planting. Field work will start soon! :)
